California SB 1262 Vetoed by the Governor

Late in the evening of September 29, Governor Gavin Newsom chose to veto SB 1262 along with 50 other bills. This bill would have required publicly accessible electronic indexes of defendants in criminal cases to permit searches and filtering of results based on a defendant’s driver’s license number or date of birth, or both. His veto message can be found here. The PBSA will be regrouping to determine what the next and best possible options are at this stage.
